Behavior Support Services
What Are Behavior Support Services?
Behavior support services are individualized interventions designed to help people navigate behavioral, emotional, or social challenges that may impact daily functioning and community involvement. These services focus on identifying the root causes of behaviors through tools like Functional Behavior Assessments and developing personalized Behavior Support Plans.
The goal is to reduce challenging behaviors and replace them with positive, prosocial skills while promoting independence, communication, emotional regulation, and daily living abilities. Families and caregivers are actively involved and supported with coaching and resources to ensure strategies are effective across all settings.
By building on each person's strengths, behavioral supports empower individuals and families to achieve greater self-determination, inclusion, and quality of life.
Behavioral services support families and individuals by:
Developing personalized Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP) tailored to each individual's needs
Teaching and reinforcing positive, prosocial behaviors to replace challenging behaviors
Providing one-on-one guidance and coaching for individuals and families to effectively implement the Behavior Support Plan
Promoting skill-building in areas such as executive functioning skills, social communication, daily living skills, and tolerance for non-preferred tasks
Addressing and reducing challenging behaviors and thought patterns, including aggression, negative self-talk, and difficulty staying on task
